Suffolk County
Suffolk County is the second largest county in the State of New York. It is eighty six miles long and surrounded by water on three sides. The population is roughly 1,500,000. On the East End there are two peninsulas – the North Fork and the South Fork, which have a lot of excellent beaches, parks, golf courses, wineries and marinas. The South Fork consists of excellent beach towns from Fire Island, Robert Moses, Westhampton, Quogue, Hampton Bays, Southampton, East Hampton and Montauk. It has been a summer playground for over 150 years. The North Fork has location on the Great Peconic Bay and bounded on the North by Long Island Sound. There are a lot of small quaint towns and villages throughout the North Fork. Western Suffolk lives more like suburbia with close proximity to Metro NYC. Schools, parks, golf courses, major colleges are all considered to add to the great lifestyle of Suffolk County.
Suffolk County has excellent municipalities protected by the Suffolk County Police Department and local volunteer fire departments. MacArthur Airport is an excellent airport located in Ronkonkoma. The North Fork has ferry service to New England from Port Jefferson and Orient Point. There is excellent shopping at Tanger Outlets in Riverhead and Deer Park. Just about every town is serviced by the Long Island Railroad. The Long Island Expressway runs from Riverhead to New York City.
